Funerals Set For Joplin Police Officers

The Joplin Police Department has released the funeral plans for two police officers killed in a shootout with a man on March 8.

Corporal Benjamin Cooper, 46, and Officer Jake Reed, 27, died from their wounds this week.

Visitation and funeral services will be held at the Leggett and Platt Center on the campus of Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Visitation for Corporal Cooper will be Monday, March 14 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A public funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 15 at 1 p.m.

Visitation for Officer Reed will be Thursday, March 17 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A public funeral service will be held on Friday, March 18 at 1 p.m.

Officer Rickey Hirshey, 53, is expected to recover from his wounds after he was shot by the suspect.

Captain William Davis, 36, shot and killed the suspect, Anthony Felix.
