The Missouri Health Department is sending out its first shipment of remdesivir after receiving it this week.
The drug was recently approved to treat COVID-19 in the U. S.
The drug is being shipped 33 different hospitals today, with 18 hospitals already receiving the drug. The State’s MO DMAT-1, the Missouri National Guard, State Emergency Management Agency and the Missouri State Highway Patrol are assisting with deployment.
The remdesivir has been donated by Gilead Sciences and provided through the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.
