The Meyer Center to reopen to members June 14
The Meyer Center, CoxHealth’s flagship medical fitness facility, will reopen to members on June 14.
As the center reopens, its services, hours and fitness opportunities will evolve gradually based on indicators identified by CoxHealth’s Infection Prevention team. Additionally, temperature and symptom screenings will be conducted upon entry. Masking will also be required when members are not actively exercising.
“We’re really looking forward to The Meyer Center’s reopening, as we know our members have really missed it, and we’ve missed seeing them,” says Chris Flouer, director of CoxHealth Fitness Centers. “However, the health of our employees and members is of upmost importance to us. We are paying very close attention to the number of COVID-19 cases in our area, and have a formula to determine when to reopen additional services based on that data and other indicators in the community.”
The center has been shuttered twice since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. First was in March 2020, when the center closed to reduce the spread of COVID-19. It reopened in June 2020 with safety protocols in place, but closed again in August 2020 when the center housed CoxHealth’s School Care Program. As schools transitioned back to in-person learning, the center was also used for CoxHealth’s mass COVID-19 vaccination clinics.
“Now that we have completed our mass vaccination clinics in the center, we eagerly anticipate having our members back, and helping them achieve their health goals,” says Flouer.
When the facility closed in August 2020, all memberships were cancelled. Individuals with memberships at that time have been contacted with information about how to reinstate their membership if they would like to do so.
CoxHealth also has fitness centers in Branson, Republic and at Cox North. To become a member at The Meyer Center or another CoxHealth Fitness Center location, click here for more information.
