In record-setting month for admissions, CoxHealth reports that it is currently treating 197 COVID-19 patients.
The previous record was set in the summer of 2021, at 187 during the peak of the Delta variant of the virus.
CoxHealth CEO Steve Edwards says that the health system has reported 722 admissions in January, including the 197 inpatients.
Edwards says he is optimistic that the numbers are cresting.
Mercy Hospital reports that it’s COVID-19 patient numbers are declining.
